Platform Search – enables you to search content within the BI platform repository (Admin Guide).


If you use it, the general recommendation: have it scheduled instead of crawling and don’t index documents' content.


In both cases, if you run it or not, check indexing files.

You can find thousands of them, sometimes taking over 50% of CMS objects!

Run Index Rebuild to get rid of them.

Example: 33k index files of 2.7 GB

BiWhy supports it now.

We don’t see it being used frequently, but if you enabled CorbaSSL, you could still connect with BiWhy.

Current restriction: BiWhy needs to be started on one of the BOBJ servers.

A quick way to find it out.


Situation:

Temporal job (send to BI Inbox) fails.

The error message is unavailable in CMC or anywhere in the logs.

Do you know the feeling when you need to troubleshoot something quickly, but you have to troubleshoot troubleshooting tools first?


There is another way. Check if any useful properties are attached to the job in CMS DB.

Select the “Failed Jobs” template in BiWhy, sort/filter by name/timestamp to your job, and voila, your error message:
